    For years, scientists around the world have observed that the levels of the oceans and seas are constantly rising and they never fail to warn of the serious repercussions of this matter on the ecosystem and on the human species. In the “News from Nowhere” project, our eclectic approach examines what may be left after “the flood” in a future in which this theory holds true. The visual and sound traces of a human and inhuman existence would be the vestiges that a future puts in question in order to understand the past. Developed by collecting traces of our human civilization on the beaches, a future archaeological inventory takes shape and puts in question our present. As part of Gabes Cinema Fen, we explore the rest of the deployments of this project in resonance with the history and memory of the exhibition sites.

Intissar Belaid

Intissar Belaid is a filmmaker and visual artist based in Tunisia. She explores different techniques in the fields of cinema and arts. Her work revolves around tackling concepts like perception and time, human and nonhuman history, as well as collective and individual memory, through an artistic approach that adopts divergent points of view.

Moritz Hagedorn

Moritz Hagedorn (*1985, Oelde, Germany) has been working as a freelance artist since 2010. His positions as a photographer in Vienna, Berlin, Münster and Tunis shape his autodidactic work, which primarily deals with the technical development history of photography. Playing with the limits and the potential of the medium forms the center of his work.
